Journal #1 - Dec.24th/04

I wish Christmas would get over with so people would email me back. I don’t celebrate the holidays, so I find it just gets in my way. I’ve sent my novel to a Canadian publisher. I was going to send it to an agent first and let them deal with getting it published, but decided to go a different route. If this doesn’t work out, then I’ll send it to an agent. I don’t know how good my novel really is, but you never know unless you try, right?

I still haven’t heard back from the publisher who was interested in my volume of poetry. I like the rate of royalties they pay, but I don’t know about them wanting money for the cover design and copyright stuff. It seems kind of scammy to me. I still might stick with it, just because getting poetry published is so hard, and even getting an agent is near impossible. I might go with them if we can work out a deal, like taking the up fort money out of the royalties in payments, or something like that.

I was  thinking about starting a non-fiction book, “Tips, tricks, and techniques for fiction writers” since I have experience writing creative writing articles. But I don’t know  if I have enough tricks or techniques to fill a book. I think I, right now, I’ll just stick with the book I’m working on, “365 creativity starters.” If I can get my notebooks out of storage I could finish it in the next couple of weeks.

So this is how my writing career goes at them moment. It’s stalled for the holidays, but hopefully picks up in the New Year.
